SFA Reading Wings reading curriculum provides ninety-minute daily lessons that target the students' reading needs. Each reading "cycle" lasts six days. Students work on listening comprehension, reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and writing during each cycle.
To ensure that students become proficient readers, they are expected to read twenty minutes nightly (Monday through Thursday). Students summarize their reading by writing two to three grade level appropriate sentences on their Read and Respond forms and have a parent or guardian sign nightly. For the convenience of parents, all Read and Respond logs are kept in the students agenda.
